Uniforms of the United States Army

Shown here is the uniform of the Regular Army infantryman. His equipment includes a Springfield rifled musket and bayonet, cartridge box, canteen, haversack and bayonet scabbard. He carries a blanket roll and knapsack on his back. The badge on his forage cap indicates that he belongs to the 5th Army Corps.
